Biden will meet with Ghani to send more mixed-signals, introduce more uncertainty. Some of the most hopeful are unfortunately some of the most naive, soon to be some of the most dead.

The Biden administration doesn’t know if it wants to stay or go, and the hopeful planning strategy around that sort of uncertainty from a major partner amid rising violence is bound to result in casualties.
With ANA reliance on airstrikes, much of the ground combat footage is from the Taliban side. As the Afghan Air Force is grounded, we’ll see more combat footage from the ANA side.
You can’t retake ground from the air. At best, you’ll kill combatants before you hit some children. Then you’ll lose more ground.
Also, given that the Afghan Air Force won’t achieve what the US Air Force couldn’t, I wouldn’t call it a success story either.
Biden won’t answer non-approved questions, Trump couldn’t keep his mouth shut even when he would have been better off for it.
