Iran and Pakistan are making a mistake if they believe Afghanistan will be a vassal under their influence. The Taliban didn’t fight the Americans for twenty years to be anyone’s pets. They will allow Russia through Uzbekistan and China to court them while they assert themselves as a dominant player in Central Asia.
They could have been a dominant player on the American team, but Americans elected a president without vision, so that’s neither here nor there anymore at this point.
