I am Ukrainian, the video that started it all.
This video went viral in 2014, shortly after the Arab Spring that led to the Syrian civil war, when the Obama youth was still in a hope and change state of mind, and was going about launching violent revolution after violent revolution in country after country in the name of Democracy, casualties be damned.
I recall at the time useful idiots on Facebook sharing this video with incendiary emotionally charged commentary to match the theme of the video. It resulted in a coup in Ukraine in 2014, the Maidan Revolution, causing the elected president to run away to Russia, and launching a chain of events, including the Crimean referendum and the War in Donbass, that’s now being settled.
It was also one of the early instances of a digital social media campaign effectively translating into political force on the ground, which is also why it caught everyone by surprise, and informs many of the tactics we’ve adopted since in response.
The video was inspired and produced by USAID (CIA) and US State Department associated people, obviously.
