WSJ article on Afghan government officials filling up their pockets with American dollars, then running away to the west to buy nice homes in nice places, hardly a surprise to common Afghans living in western nations given that working for the previous government or the US military assisting the previous government under the pretense of helping to build a thriving Democracy and making advancements in women’s rights, justifying bombing native Afghans including women and children to do so, depersonalizing any Afghans that resisted as terrorists, or worse, Pakistanis, then turning around and buying nice homes in California, Virginia, and elsewhere, was a right of passage in the identity of the diasporan Afghan.
You would think Americans had wised up to Afghanistan being used as a laundromat to launder their tax dollars into the pockets of corrupt Afghan government officials, and all participants in general, but then they turned around and decided to make Ukraine an even bigger tax dollar money laundering center.
Such is life.
