Rumors are a funny thing.
This morning’s rumor was that Khalil al-Rahman Haqqani, brother of Jalaluddin Haqqani and uncle of Sirajuddin Haqqani, is the one who ordered girls secondary public schools in Paktia to be reopened.
This afternoon’s rumor is that Khalil al-Rahman Haqqani was taken out overnight in a US drone strike in Kabul.
I could have told you that the schools in Paktia were reopened last Friday, but much of what I see regarding Afghanistan I don’t post because I don’t like to post rumors without some confirmation, especially given Afghans’ addiction to fake news.
But how can I not post these two latest rumors.
