GU24 light sockets, created in 2004 and mandated to be used in California (because feelings) in 2008, are a mess. They can’t handle vibrations (for example, from a ceiling fan); the springs end up failing, causing arcing and posing a fire hazard.
That’s saying nothing about how expensive the bulbs are.
The E26 light sockets, in use since around 1908, are superior in every way.
