The right wing is upset about this, but to me it’s a positive development because it ends the efforts by the GOP establishment to sell Youngkin as the model of a post-Trump Republican party.
As I’ve mentioned in private, though he’s preferable to a Democrat, I’m not a big fan of Youngkin, but a weak well-mannered Republican is all that can win in Virginia, home of permanent government employees in Fairfax, so it is what it is.
The model remains a mix of rust-belt and sun-belt.
