Heritage’s Index of Economic Freedom also confirms that Europe has been moving away from socialism and towards economic freedom since the 1990s. Interestingly enough, since 2008, during the Obama years, The United States took a sharp turn towards less economic freedom.
The United States is moving towards socialism while Europe is moving away from socialism.
I also threw Canada in there so you can see that, thanks to Obama, we are now more of a socialist country than Canada is. Though I’m sure Trudeau will fix that soon.
I always hear about how liberal or socialist Europe is when it’s actually the opposite. That may have been true in the past but is no longer the case. Europe has been rolling back their socialist programs, deregulating their economies, and cutting taxes.
I went through the map of European countries, looked their prime ministers / parliaments up on Wikipedia, and colored them in with blue if they have conservative right wing governments and red if they have liberal left wing governments. Purple is for mixed coalition governments.
As you can see, Europe is by and large conservative, free market, and right wing dealing with unwinding the remnants of post war socialism.
According to Politico, The Department of Homeland Security (under Obama) has formally classified Antifa activities as “domestic terrorist violence” and DHS along with the FBI confirms that Antifa are the “primary instigators of violence at public rallies”.
“Federal authorities have been warning state and local officials since early 2016 that leftist extremists known as “antifa” had become increasingly confrontational and dangerous, so much so that the Department of Homeland Security formally classified their activities as “domestic terrorist violence,” according to interviews and confidential law enforcement documents obtained by POLITICO.”
“Previously unreported documents disclose that by April 2016, authorities believed that “anarchist extremists” were the primary instigators of violence at public rallies against a range of targets. They were blamed by authorities for attacks on the police, government and political institutions, along with symbols of “the capitalist system,” racism, social injustice and fascism, according to a confidential 2016 joint intelligence assessment by DHS and the FBI.”
“After President Donald Trump’s election in November, the antifa activists locked onto another target — his supporters.”
““These antifa guys were showing up with weapons, shields and bike helmets and just beating the shit out of people. … They’re using Molotov cocktails, they’re starting fires, they’re throwing bombs and smashing windows.””
“Almost immediately, the right-wing targets of the antifa attacks began fighting back.” (notice .. fighting “back”)
“In the Texas capital of Austin, armed antifa protesters attacked Trump supporters and white groups at several recent rallies, and then swarmed police in a successful effort to stop them from making arrests.”
“California has become another battleground, with violent confrontations in Berkeley, Sacramento and Orange County leading to numerous injuries. And antifa counter-protesters initiated attacks in two previous clashes in Charlottesville, according to the law enforcement reports and interviews.”
“DHS studied “recent violent clashes … at lawfully organized white supremacist”” (notice .. lawfully organized)
“According to police, counter-protesters linked to antifa and affiliated groups like By Any Means Necessary attacked, causing a riot after which at least 10 people were hospitalized, some with stab wounds.”
“By the spring of 2016, the anarchist groups had become so aggressive, including making armed attacks on individuals and small groups of perceived enemies, that federal officials launched a global investigation with the help of the U.S. intelligence community, according to the DHS and FBI assessment.”
FBI, Homeland Security warn of more ‘antifa’ attacks
Confidential documents call the anarchists that seek to counter white supremacists “domestic terrorists.”

“Why Universal Healthcare Fails”
“While technology has potentially contributed to the loss of 800,000 lower-skilled jobs, there is equally strong evidence to suggest that it has helped to created nearly 3.5 million newer higher-skilled ones in their place. Each one of these new jobs pays, on average, just under, £10,000 more per annum than the one lost. Crucially, every nation and region of the UK has benefited, and we estimate that this technology-driven change has added £140 billion to the UK’s economy in new wages.”

Every time I’m looking for this chart I can’t find it. I just found it by accident again, so here it for posterity.
“Medical care prices are up 105% in the last 20 years. This contrasts with the television industry, which is selling products that have fallen 96% in the same period.”
“Competitive industries offer goods and services that are falling in price due to market pressure. In contrast monopolized industries can extract ever higher rents from people based on restriction.”
“College is heavily subsidized, regulated, and exclusionary, and the costs are soaring. The textbook industry is hobbled by extreme copyright regulation, and can depend on captive buyers. Childcare is one of the most regulated industries in the country. Not just anyone can enter. Every aspect of childcare provision is controlled by the state.”
“On the other hand, software, wireless service, toys and and TVs (see: free trade) exist in relatively freer market settings. The price pressure is down.”
“It’s not that complicated, folks. If you want good services, good products, innovative ideas, and low prices, you need competitive markets. The more you control, the higher the prices and the worse the results.”
I wonder which way single payer will bend the cost curve ..
