“Declining education productivity disproportionately harms the poor. …unlike their affluent peers, low-income parents lack the resources to overcome weak quality by home-schooling their children or hiring private tutors. Over the last 30 to 40 years, the United States has invested heavily in education, with little to show for it. The result is a society with more inequality and less economic growth; a high price.”

Money Won’t Save the Failing Public School System | Daniel J. Mitchell

“Sadly, the government seems to be most inefficient in areas where we all hope for good results. Education is a powerful (and sad) example.”

The problem with the CBO, or most economic forecasts…

The problem with the CBO, or most economic forecasts...

The problem with the CBO, or most economic forecasts for that matter, is that they’re worthless ..

“In 2008, the CBO was predicting that the US budget deficit would turn into a surplus in 2011. Instead ended up being an $1+ trillion deficit for that year alone. Also, in the period between 2008 and 2013, the CBO then forecast a cumulative deficit of just a few hundred billion. Instead, we ended up with deficits of over $5 trillion and, sadly, still rising.”

CBO Forecasts: Then And Now | Zero Hedge

Or how a forecasted surplus turned out to be a $1+ trillion deficit in three short years…

"Choosing" not to be covered isn't the same as...

“Choosing” not to be covered isn’t the same as “losing” coverage .. Pre-existing conditions continue to be covered and the medicaid expansion is retained (at a lower reimbursement rate; 80% vs 90%) ..

“Some of those people would choose not to have insurance because they chose to be covered by insurance under current law only to avoid paying the penalties”

American Health Care Act

CBO and JCT estimate that enacting the American Health Care Act would reduce federal deficits by $337 billion over the coming decade and increase the number of people who are uninsured by 24 million in 2026 relative to current law.
