I don’t have much to say with this map. It was an intense period where provincial capitals were captured in a span of a few days. Trying to keep up with it took its toll on me and I lost a couple of nights sleep.
While the Taliban capturing provincial capitals and sitting outside of Kabul was the big deal during this period, I still had to follow up with all the remaining smaller districts as well.
In any case, it’s safe to say the outcome is obvious, so unless something changes, for instance US reinvolvement, this is likely my last map in the series. I may post a final map with the final self-evident outcome just to wrap it up.
All my content including the map series will eventually be exported out of Facebook to a website and I hope future students of Afghan military history find value there in what I’ve archived.

Commander of ANA 209th Shaheen Corps of Mazar Sharif Zabihullah Mohmand ordered his men to stand down while Atta Noor and Dostum were still fighting, saving lives in Mazar Sharif.
This is likely the conspiracy Atta Noor is referring to.
On August 8th, 2021, the previous Commander called out sick and left his deputy Zabihullah Mohmand in charge.
Whether that’s part of the conspiracy, I don’t know.
Maybe he really was sick, maybe he didn’t want responsibility at this important time, or maybe it was anti-Atta / anti-Dostum insurance in case they decide to ruin both the 209th and Mazar Sharif by fighting to the death and Zabihullah was more responsible, I don’t know.
It’s a mystery.
Taliban leadership gave order to not attack Kabul, they want it handed to them.
I hope this is true, blood does no good.
The Taliban were always going to win, but were willing to work through a structured deliberate peace process with Trump that would result in a photo finish at Doha with both parties shaking hands and future mutual US-Afghanistan cooperation.
When Sleepy Joe became president, he didn’t believe the assessment that a Taliban takeover was inevitable, decided to deviate from the peace process, and believed that if Ghani and the Taliban fought it out in the battlefield, the ANDSF would obviously win.
Biden sabotaged the peace process, encouraged Ghani to have the war, resulting in the bloody devastation to Afghanistan that Trump attempted to prevent.
Biden and Ghani asked for war, so the Taliban delivered it.
Whether you believe it or not is your business, but if you believe it, never forget who did this.

It was a tense transfer of power with ill feelings both ways, bloodshed was avoided.
